Publisher: Museo Nacional de Antropología - INAH México
This rib, belonging to the second Santa Isabel Iztapan specimen, was selected from the individual's skeletal assemblage because—despite the various taphonomic processes that altered the bones—it retains cultural marks identifiable as the result of human activities, such as cutting and butchering. These actions were performed using lithic tools, such as knives made from materials like chert, rhyolite, or obsidian.
Selected as the Piece of the Month on the National Museum of Anthropology website in Mexico City, June 2025.
